Fuel Management Programs: Fuel & Lube Analysis

Drew Marine’s Fuel and Lube Oil Analysis Programs utilize an evidence-based approach to optimizing your fuel and lube oil use. Our network of shore-based laboratories test and analyze your fuel and lube oil samples to uncover contaminants, degradations, and any quality issues that may lead to inefficient operation, with the ultimate goal of greatly decreasing your fleet’s operational costs.

Decrease Your Fleet's Operational Costs

Behind every Drew Marine program is a suite of on-demand technical services, industry experts, and years of extensive logistical knowledge that aid you in ensuring every program and application is being implemented correctly and successfully. As a leader in the maritime industry, Drew Marine is committed to meeting your marine fuel needs and identifying opportunities for your business to reduce maintenance and lower overall operating costs.

About Our Fuel Analysis Program

To address substantial operating costs, fuel samples are drawn at the start of the bunkering operation and dispatched to shore-based laboratories. The results are then compared to the fuel purchase specification.

To ensure all parties interested have their own representative sample, Drew Marine recommends preparing a minimum of four individual fuel samples from the primary sample, with additional samples prepared as needed (e.g., surveyor):

  1. MARPOL retained sample
  2. Vessel retained sample
  3. Supplier sample
  4. Laboratory sample

About Our Lube Oil Analysis Program

Quality lube oils used in modern high-performance engines consist of refined base oils combined with complex additive packages formulated for the harsh marine environment. Periodic testing and shore-based laboratory analysis of lube oil can identify degraded oil and wear contaminants, allowing for better protection for your engine and optimization of lubricant and equipment performance.

If results are suspect, or if more testing is needed as part of a maintenance program, additional samples can be landed ashore for more quantitative analysis using the Lube Oil Analysis Program. Each Prepaid Kit contains 10 empty sample bottles, labels, and mailers.

The testing offered by the Lube Analysis Program identifies:

KEY PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL OIL PROPERTIES

Type & amount of wear particles, contaminants, and oil additives remaining

Type & severity of wear
